Gas Mileage and Math
Since gas prices are on the rise, many people have begun to budget how much they spend per week on gas with how many miles it will take to get them to where they need to go. Math is used to determine a gas budget. Some cars are more fuel efficient than others so some people have decided to buy new cars that will get better gas mileage than their older car. Cars that are hybrids and only use gas when it is necessary are better for the environment and for one’s wallet. When deciding whether to buy a new car or not, it is best to look at one’s monthly budget to decide if it is worth the investment as a new car will probably have a higher monthly payment. Math will be needed to determine this also. Basic math skills can help a person prepare for their future and help lower monthly bills.
Knowing how many miles a person typically will use their car will help them budget a weekly gas allowance. Extra money should be added in case a person needs to go on a trip or needs to use the car for reasons other than to work and back. Estimating how much gas a person will have to use each week is another use for math. While this number could change, it is a good number to use when determining a budget. Budgeting will help a person save money and will hopefully make their lives a little easier. Gas prices are not expected to be lowered any time soon.
