          Hanging a picture that is perfectly straight will make any room seem inviting and comfortable. Using one’s eye is not always the best way to hang a picture. Using a tape measure to measure the distance between the walls, other pictures, and from the floor are ways to determine exactly where the picture should go. This requires math skills. Adding and subtracting to find the best spot for the picture. When hanging groups of pictures, taking accurate measurements is the only way to make they look their best on the wall. Crooked pictures or pictures that are too close or too far apart can make a room look smaller or uncomfortable. Using basic math skills will result in straight pictures every time.

           For those who are redecorating a home or who want to hang new pictures, using a level to make sure the pictures are straight is a good idea. A level will determine if the picture is straight. Taking measurements beforehand and calculating the distance from other pictures or points on the wall will help keep the picture centered. Pictures can add much to a room that does not have many windows or does not have enough furniture in it. Pictures can be photos of family, abstract artwork, or anything else that have meaning. Hanging the pictures correctly will add character to any room. Having the math skills to do this will make the job much easier and the results will be much better. People will be able to see the artwork and appreciate it.
