Using Math When Exercising


          When exercising, it is important to check one’s heart rate so that overheating does not occur. If the body is pushed too hard, it may be injured. Drinking enough water will help to keep muscles limber and the heart rate lower. Checking one’s pulse involves counting the number of heart beats in one minute. This means that math is used when exercising. People use math all the time when they are running, swimming, performing aerobics, and other exercises. Taking care of one’s body means that a person is always monitoring it to make sure it is not being overworked. When a person has done too much physical activity, they will begin to feel dizzy, short of breath, and sweat too much. It is time to stop exercising at this point and drink some water.

           Math can also be used when trying to determine how many miles a person can run in an allotted time period. This is useful when people want to exercise during their lunch break or when they want to exercise at nighttime. Setting goals when exercising is accomplished by using math. Calculating how many miles a person can run and then trying to beat that time is a useful way to stay motivated. Exercising should be a part of everyone’s lifestyle. There are many forms of exercise from walking to using gym equipment. Exercise is a personal routine that requires a person to have basic math skills in order to plan routines and to stay fit for life.
